Privacy notice
Your
data.
Short version: we collect as little as we can, we do not sell or share it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
Who we are. The Riverbank Challenge is organised by Goole Viking Striders, a volunteer-run community running club. For anything in this notice, email hello@riverbankchallenge.co.uk.
Entries
Race entries are taken by our entry and timing provider, not by this website. When you enter, that company is the data controller for your entry, and its privacy notice and terms apply. We receive the entrant list so that we can run the race: produce race numbers, results and the emergency-contact sheet for the medical team. We keep it for the year and for the results archive.
Forms on this site
The sponsorship, volunteering, trader and contact forms are processed by Netlify, which hosts this site, and emailed to the committee member responsible. We use what you send us only to reply and to organise the race. We keep sponsorship and volunteering details until the following year's race, because most people want to be asked again, and we delete them on request.
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics to see which pages are useful and where visitors come from. It sets cookies, so we only switch it on if you choose “Yes, that's fine” on the banner. Choosing “No thanks” keeps the site fully working with no analytics cookies at all. You can change your mind by clearing this site's data in your browser, which brings the banner back. Nothing else on the site sets cookies. Embedded videos from YouTube only load, and only set their own cookies, when you press play.
Photography
We take photographs and video at the race for the results, the website, social media and next year's promotion, relying on our legitimate interest in running and promoting a community event. There are signs at the venue and a line in the entry terms. If you would rather not appear in a published photo, email us and we will take it down. For the kids' fun run we ask for a parent's consent at entry, and we never publish a child's name with their photo.
Your rights
You can ask to see what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. Email hello@riverbankchallenge.co.uk. If you are not happy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
